Sister Ruth James Perry was born April 2, 1921 in Lowndes County to the late Hattie and Jerry James, Sr. She was a housewife and a retired farmer. At an early age Ruth accepted Chris as her savior and was a dedicated member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. Sister Ruth was preceded in death by one daughter, Eloise Roberts; five sisters, Lillian Sampson, Eula Mae Goldman, Laura Meeks, Katherine Johnson; four brothers, Ocie young, Jerry James, Jr., S.L. James and Willie James. She was wed to the late Mr. Willie Perry, Sr. To this union four children were born. She is survived by one brother, Artherman James of Gary, Indiana; three children, Annie Strickland, Willie Perry, Jr., and Lilian Perry all of Valdosta, Georgia; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Clander Roberts; two special friends, Dr. Charles and Nancy Hobby; a very good friend, Barbara Arrington; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth had a giving heart and in turn was blessed with the richness of love from family and many friends. Some knew her as Honey, some knew her as Mua, others simply called her Ruth. All that knew her would agree she was a joy to be around. She could ALWAYS bring a smile or spread laughter with stories from her life and family experiences. She will be missed but not forgotten.
