MRS. EDITH LORENE JONES KING, daughter of the late Lawrence O. Jones and Annie Mae Tisdale Jones was born January 30, 1961 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life October 26, 2020 in MCV-VCU Hospital, Richmond, VA.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Whittle Grove Baptist Church.

While there she was a member of the Senior Choir. She attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools. Edith was married to the late Robert King.

She was one of the original members of the LOJ Gospel Singers. She was also employed by Mecklenburg County Public Schools as a Teacher’s Aide until her health began to decline.

In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grand-daughter, Taniyah, coloring and telling jokes to family and friends to make them laugh.

Edith will be greatly missed by her son- Travis L. Jones of the home; one grand-daughter-Taniyah Hawkins, Warfield, VA; four sisters- Ernestine Stukes, South Hill, VA; Reverend Brenda (Calvin) Hutcheson, Bracey, VA; Fannie R. (Harold) Bennett and Felicia (Kenyatta) Jones-Peterson, all of South Hill, VA; three brothers- Garry Jones, Glen Allen, VA; Wayne (Diana) Jones, Norfolk, VA and Don Jones, South Brunswick, VA; step-mother, Frances B. Jones, South Hill, VA; five aunts- Gladys Jones, Brodnax, VA; Mary Tisdale, Macie Farrar, and Tawanda Tisdale all of Richmond, VA and Michelle Tisdale of South Hill, VA; nephew she reared- Kharter Peterson; Godchild- Travis Davis, Richmond, VA; devoted friends- Cara Easter, Julia Tisdale, Yvonne Cook, Chrystal and Laverne Smith; devoted caregiver- Elna Hayes, South Hill, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
