Mrs. Essie Mae Washington “TUNCH” Thompson, of Georgia White Road, Elberton, GA, departed this life Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at an Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton, GA. Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery with mask and social distancing. Viewing will be held Saturday from 3:00 to 6:00 at Davis Funeral Home Mrs. Thompson was a native of Jefferson County born to the parentage of the late Marshall and Lizzie Mae Hatcher Washington. “Tunch” as she was lovingly called was the widow on the late Tommy Thompson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Vickie Bynes, her siblings Emma Lee Smith, Lettie Bell Washington, Mildred Washington, George Washington, Sr. and Willie Lee Washington. Survivors include her children, Margaret (Johnny) Mingle, Louisville, GA, Martha (Cornell) Winn, Elberton, GA, Mary Bynes, Ocelia, FL, Ronnie (Gale) Bynes, Kirk Thompson, Augusta, GA; her sister Lanoria Ivery, Augusta, GA; several grandchildren, nieces.
