Obituary

John Timothy Thompson was born in East Liverpool, OH on November 8, 1963 to the late Sylvester and Frances Thompson. He married DeNeen Austin on July 19, 1986. To this union two sons were born. He departed this life October 21, 2020.

John attended public schools in East Liverpool, OH where he played basketball and football. He continued his education at West Liberty College in West Virginia. He later joined and served in the US Navy. He also attended New Castle Trade School in East Liverpool, Ohio and was certified in heating and Cooling.

John’s favorite past times were fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed working with youth and coached little league football for several years. John was preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia Thompson.

John leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife, DeNeen Thompson; two sons, John Timothy Thompson, Jr. of Youngstown, OH; Derek Thompson of East Liverpool, OH; Mikael Zanders whom he raised as his own son; one sister, Teresa (Jonathan) Cann-Kyne of Somerset, NJ; two foster sisters; Jennifer Jenkins of Atlanta, GA and Jermeka Jenkins of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Michael Thompson of Dixie, GA; one foster brother, Jermaine Jenkins of Valdosta, GA; three aunts: Pauline Brown of Quitman, GA; Inez (Nathaniel)Turner of Dixie, GA; Annie Lee Robinson of Burnell, FL; one uncle: Evans (Lillie) Thompson of Sanford, FL; one sister-in-law, Kim Arrington of Massillon, OH; three brothers-in-law: Mark (Tia) Austin of Seattle, WA; Richard Austin, Jr. of East Liverpool, OH; Don Austin of East Liverpool, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11AM. A livestream of the service will be made available via this website and our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 4PM-7PM.
