Obituary For Odis Philyaw

Odis was born on June 2, 1932 to Luther and Mary Philyaw. He departed this life on November 2, 2020.

He graduated from Carver High School of Pleasant Hill and from Barber College of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a barber for 60+ years and worked as an independent school bus driver for 20 years.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church #2. He served on the Deacon Board and participated in the church choir for many, many years. In addition, he was a dedicated member of the Royal Arch Masonry.

He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of more than 60 years, four children: James Odis (Lynn), Kathy (Bill), Remona (Dennis), and Wills, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four sisters: Nancy, Laurelia (Edward), Berdia, Willie Grace (Ned) and a host of relatives and friends.
