Obituary For Solomon Burton Jr.

Solomon Burton Jr. was born April 1, 1934 in Fitzpatrick, Alabama. His work on the season, carried him to Marathon, Florida, where he met and married Mattie Ruth Harp, his loving wife of 65 years. They then relocated to Sarasota, Florida and had three children: Mary Alice Burton, Solomon W. Burton, and Alonzo Tyrell Burton. Solomon held many strenuous jobs during his young life, but his first love was construction where he mastered the art of laying cement. He worked the majority of his career doing this. Along with construction, Solomon was most remembered by his employment with the city sanitation department where he worked as a driver for 20 years before retiring in 1995.

He leaves to forever love and cherish his memories: his daughter, Mary Burton; 2 sons, Solomon W. Burton and Alonzo T. Burton; brother, Sam Burton; sister, Pauline Burton; 4 beautiful granddaughters, Peggy Carrozza, Tonyque Benson (Zavian), Tonisha Benson (Cleve) and Alexus Zackery; nephew, Leon Burton. He also leaves to cherish his memory of two loyal and dedicated friends, Ronnie McKinnon Sr., and Bobby Davis; a host of beautiful and handsome nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and great grandchildren.
