Obituary For Mr. Lloyd Thomas

Augusta, GA-Mr. Lloyd Thomas entered into eternal rest at Augusta University Hospital.

Services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Dyess Park, 902 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, Georgia with Reverend Dr. Clyde Hill, Sr. Officiating. Social distancing will be observed and mask are required.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the mortuary.

Lloyd Thomas was born November 5, 1938, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Sally and Leona Thomas. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where he served until his health failed.

Lloyd was a graduate of Lucy Craft Laney (Class of 1957) and attended Savannah State College. Lloyd was employed by the Augusta Recreation and Parks Department as director of Dyess Park until retiring.

He was a longtime employee of Dent’s Funeral Home, he worked for May’s Funeral Home, and was funeral director of Peoples Funeral Home for many years. He was a member of the Augusta Officials Association, where he served many years as the secretary.

Lloyd was preceded in death by: the love of his life, Patricia Ann Thomas; son, Sally Thomas; daughter, Jessie Dialyah Thomas; and step-son, Tony Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his many memories: daughter, Trina (Isaac) Lee; step-daughter, Wondra (Carlton) Burke; grandchildren, Chris Thomas, Jackie (SeMario) Thomas- Meggett, Morgan Lee, Megan Lee, Takisha Burke, and Carlton Burke; god-son, Cedric Stokes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
