Eugene Ellis Jones Jr. was born November 22, 1923 to Eugene Sr. and Eliza Alcorn Jones. He departed this life on November 3, 2020 at the home of his son, surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his lovely wife Sara Simpson Jones, daughter Naomi Anthony and grandson Robert Scott Jones.

Eugene graduated from Lincoln High School in Stanford KY and joined the US Army and was a proud WWII Veteran and received a combat medal. He retired after 20 years of service from Proctor and Gamble. He was active in several civic and community groups, also a member of the Doric #18 Masonic Lodge, Danville, KY; member of various farming organizations. Eugene served 9 years as County Committee Advisor for the Lincoln County Farm Service Agency.

He was a faithful member and Deacon of Jacob Chapel AMEM Church of Turnersville for more than 60 years before continuing to serve the Lord at Bethel AME Church in the Community of Boneyville, Stanford, Kentucky. He loved his church and church family.

Eugene is survived by his devoted children, Larry (Jo Ellen) Jones, Lexington, KY and William (Anna) Jones, Frankfort, KY, Bettie (Alvin) Wheeler, Louisville, KY an Eliza Jones, Philippine Island; six grandchildren, Angelo Edwards and Alvin Wheeler, Jr., Joelle Anthony, LaKeasha Jones, LaRellen Jones, and Kasie (Adonis) Jackson; one great granddaughter Lauryn Wheeler; one great great grandson Kaiser Johnson; two sister in laws, Lena Johnson and Lovester Wilkinson; two brothers in law, James Simpson and Walter Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and dear friends.
