Obituary For Sakeenah Abdullah

Sakeenah Abdullah, 36, of Fieldale, VA, departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC. She was born in Virginia, the daughter of Thebra Staples Shabazz and the late Muhammad Abdullah.

Sakeenah was a 2002 graduate of Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was a graduate of Tidewater Community College, with a major in Social Science. Also, she graduate from Old Dominion University, and attended Liberty University. She attended Mercy Crossing Church, Martinsville, VA.

Sakeenah leaves to cherish her memory, her mother and step-father, James and Thebra Staples Shabazz of Fieldale, VA; five sisters, Sabreen Staples of Fieldale, VA, Shahidah Abdullah of Virginia Beach, VA, Ruqayyah Shabazz of Martinsville, VA, Naimah Payne of Portsmouth, VA, and Zakiyah Payne of Norfolk, VA; four brothers, Qaadir Payne of Virginia Beach, Tahsean Hodge of Fieldale, VA, Muhammad Payne of Norfolk, VA, and Tito Boykins of Portsmouth, VA; three step-brothers, Yardan Shabazz of Virginia Beach, VA, James Shabazz, Jr of Georgia, and Amir Shabazz of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times the family will receive friends at the home of her mother and step-father, James and Thebra Shabazz, 138 Idlewood Dr., Fieldale, VA. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at the Staples Family Cemetery, Fieldale, VA.
