Mr. Richard Lea

Mr. Richard Douglas Lea was born on June 17, 1959 to the late John William Lea, Jr. and Esther Gant Lea. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbert, Raymond, Charles Lea and his sister, Bernice Lea. He was the youngest of ten children. Richard was born in Burlington, NC and raised in Greensboro, NC. He received his public education there and graduated from Page High School in 1978 and attended GTCC. He had a talent for being able to fix things, work on projects and because of this, he became interested in becoming a Maintenance Mechanic Specializing in Industrial Maintenance. Some of the various places he was employed by were NC A&T State University, Greensboro, NC, H.M. Haire Manufacturing, Thomasville, NC and Slane Hosiery Mill, High Point, NC.

Richard was a Deacon at First Baptist Church under Pastor Dennis H. Leach, Sr. in High Point, NC and most recently a Trustee at Friendship Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC under Pastor Shannon L. Jessup. He was active in the Usher Ministry, Marriage Ministry and he was also the Chaplain of the Security Ministry. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Holly Allen Lea; daughter, Tasha Lea; one granddaughter, Nina Gainey; three brothers, John (Shelia) Lea, Clinton Robert Lea and David (Robin) Lea; two sisters, Rosetta (IJ) Foust and Denise (Michael) Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A private graveside service will be held Monday, November 16, 2020 at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mr. Lea may be viewed on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
