Obituary For Joseph Gregg, II

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Funeral service for Joseph Leon Gregg, II will be conducted 11 AM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at J.O & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 S. Johns St., Florence. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Joseph Leon Gregg, II, affectionately called “Joe” was the son of the late Rudolph Gregg and Julia Kelly Platt. He was born on July 26, 1950 in Claussen, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Joseph joined Salem United Methodist Church at an early age.

Joseph attended the Florence Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Wilson High School. He received an Associate Degree from Denmark Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina.

Joseph was employed at GE in Florence, South Carolina for 20 years and later gained employment at Dixie Cup in Darlington, South Carolina, where he retired after 20 years of service. Joseph was joined in marriage to Christy Gregg.

Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Christy Gregg; children, Harrison Kevin Murray (Tiffany), Joseph Leon Gregg, III, and Tonya Lakish White (Drai); two brothers, Steve Scott and Russell Gregg (Crystal); one sister; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three special friends, Bernard Cooper, Baretta Scott, and Jacob Nettles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

I have fond memories of Joe from Wilson High. I have not seen or had the opportunity to talk since graduation because we went in separate directions in life. He was fun to be around and loved by all. Everyday was lots of jokes and laughs. RIP! Rudolph Ham
