Obituary For Derek Campbell, Jr.

DEREK JEROME CAMPBELL, JR. was born in Alaska to Valeria Lewis Campbell and Derek J. Campbell, Sr. Derek received his formal early childhood education in the Virginia Public School System. Later, after moving to Steelton, Pennsylvania to reside with his father, he attended Steelton-Highspire High School. Derek continued his education at the Glenn Mills School from where he earned his high school diploma and later obtained a certification in HVAC. In his leisure, he enjoyed power lifting; he had a great interest in music and was an excellent artist. He was also a tremendous athlete and played football as a teenager. On Monday, October 26, 2020 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Derek Jerome Campbell, Jr., at the age of 32 years, 2 months and 12 days, departed this life. Left to cherish memories of Derek are his children, Jeniyah Dashae Campbell, Da’Shawn Venable-Campbell and Alaia Dior Campbell; his faithful companion, Kera Hill; his mother, Valeria Lewis Campbell; his father, Derek J. Campbell, Sr. (Yolanda); his two sisters, Arianna Johnson Lucas and Verla Campbell; his four brothers, Cristopher Revis, Christopher Bunting, Joshua Kerns and Terrell Elijah Campbell; his step-sisters, Shanisha Garfield-Robinson and Shayla Garfield-Bobbitt; his maternal grandmother, Veronica Reid; his paternal grandmother, Katherine Bond; his paternal grandfather, HB Campbell (Tanya) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His life will be celebrated in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 N. Front St., Steelton, beginning with viewing and visitation on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon followed by Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Covid 19 guidelines will be observed with masks and six foot social distancing for all attendees of the viewing and funeral service. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available on the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home YouTube page when the Funeral Serice begins.

To The Family I am truly sadden and sorry for the lost of your beloved Derek. He was such a sweet and loving young man. He was friends with my children. When Derek would see me he would always give me a big hug and was always respectful he was one of my children. He was full of life and love.
