Obituary For Rev. Richard D Robbins-Slaughter

Our beloved Richard Donell Robbins Slaughter was born July 10, 1965 in New York to the union of the late Doris Slaughter and the late Johnnie Lee Debardlabon. He was adopted by Roy and Grace Robbins of Attalla, Al. His education came from Dobbs Kindergarten and St. Martin DePorres Catholic School. He attended Etowah High School where he participated in the Etowah Singers Show Choir and played on the Etowah High Football and Basketball team until his graduation in 1984. He was currently attending the Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College. Richard accepted Christ at an early age at the Galiee Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. G. E. Robinson. In 1985, He Started his musical ministry with a local gospel group called the Revelators. In the 1990's he became a Deacon at the Galiee Missionary Baptist Church where he served until 2001. He then moved to Oak Groove Missionary Baptist Church and served under the leadership of Pastor Charlie Parker. Richard accepted the call to ministry in 2013 at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Grover Robinson. He was officially ordained into the ministry in June 2014. He became the Choir Director and Minister of Music and served faithfully until his passing. Richard loved his family dearly. On November 20,1984, he married the love of his life Cornelius Lee Marbury. To the union four children were born.

On Tuesday November 10,2020 Richard was called home to be with his heavenly father at the Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Gadsden Al. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Grace Robbins, His birth parents Doris Slaughter and Johnnie Lee Debardlabon, and his sisters Aretha Kelly and Linda Roberson.

Richard left behind great memories for his legacies: his wife and bestfriend, Cornelius "Lee" of Gadsden Al; his children: Brandon Marbury, Constance Slaughter, Alexis Slaughter all of Gadsden Al, Angelicia (James) Keen of Fayetteville, NC; his grandsons: Kenyon, Isaac and Kayden all of Fayetteville, NC; his sisters: Angie Cannon and Monica Teague both of Sylacauga, Al; his brother: Jonathon Debardlabon of Minnesota; his sisters-in-law: Yvonne Raines and Riggie Loyd of Quitman, GA, Roni (Leroy) Turner, Jennifer Crowley, Brenda (Michael) Rice all of Gadsden, Al, Olivia (Fred) Davis of Miami, FL; brother-in-law: Raymond Kelley of Gadsden, AL; His aunt Ida Maw (Royal) Cook of Rochester, NY; his uncle: Willis(Carletta) Howard of Miami, FL; Special Friends: Pastor Charlie (Tanesa Parker, Carl (Joy) Byers, Joe Jackson, Pastor Grover(Annie) Robinson, Keverth Carmichael; six godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Viewing will be, Thursday, 11am-6pm At West Gadsden Funeral Home Funeral services will be Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Mission Baptist Church at 12:00 noon. Eulogist: Reverend Grover Robinson, Burial: Lincoln Hills Cemetery
