Obituary For Michael R. Melvin, Sr.

Michael Renard Melvin Sr. was born June 8, 1964 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Sadie Graham and the late Walter Melvin. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday November 9, 2020.

Michael graduated from James B. Dudley High School and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. He was a licensed barber and an exceptional chef. If he wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find him in front of the TV rooting for the Dallas Cowboys or the UNC Tar Heels.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife LaSonya Melvin, son Michael Melvin Jr. (Jessica), mother Sadie Graham, three granddaughters Michaela Melvin, Justice Melvin, and Moriah Melvin, one grandson Michael Melvin III, brothers Chester Graham and Roderick “Doc” Dockery (June), three nieces Aaliyah Graham, Totiana Beasley, and East Dockery, two nephews Joshua and Benjamin Graham, and many loving relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 4pm-6pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. The private graveside to honor his life will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Lakeview Memorial Park.
