Obituary For Betty Ann Carr

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Memorial service for Ms. Betty Ann Carr will be conducted 1 PM Sunday, November 15, 2020 on the lawn of Smith Funeral Home, 307 S. Johns St., Florence. Services directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Betty Ann Carr was born to Rosa Lee (the late Elder Floyd) Ellis and the late Harvey (Norma) Mitchell on Friday, June 29, 1962 in Florence, South Carolina. She passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Betty was educated in the Public Schools of Florence County and continued her Higher Education at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development.

Betty was employed by Florence County I.T. Department as an Administrative Assistant for a number of years.

Betty’s hobbies included shopping, decorating/crafting, family events, and collecting dolls. She was extremely passionate about Christ, her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her father, Harvey Mitchell and her stepfather, Elder Floyd Ellis.

Betty leaves to cherish precious memories: a daughter, Samantha Ellis of Rincon, Georgia; a son, Christorpher (Mae-gan) Ellis of Durham, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Mario “Andrew” James of Rincon, Georgia, Elijah Ellis and Isaiah Ellis of Durham, North Carolina; her mother, Evangelist Rosa Lee Ellis and stepmother, Norma Mitchell both of Florence, South Carolina; three sisters, Joyce Kirven of the home, Vanessa (Mark) McLeod of Atlanta, Georgia, and Khyli (Antonio) Thompson of Florence, South Carolina; two brothers, Barry (Jenice) Green of Bennettsville, South Carolina and Rajauhn Mitchell of Charlotte, North Carolina; four very special sisters, Frances Thomas of Bishopville, South Carolina, Vernee Godbolt, Dorothy Thompson and Wanda Douglas all of Florence, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.

We honor the life of Ms. Betty Ann Carr and we know that she was loved dearly.
