Obituary For Essie Ree "Tiny" Fomby Dates

Graveside services for Ms. Essie Ree "Tiny" Fomby Dates, 69, will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Kingston Memorial Gardens. Pastor Byron F. White will officiate. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the funeral home.

Ms. Essie Ree “Tiny” Fomby Dates began her earthly journey on April 24, 1951, to the union of Harry Fomby and Mary Garrett Fomby in Alpine, Alabama.

At an early age, Ms. Dates committed her life to Christ and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church. She began her education at Nottingham School and it concluded at Talladega Country Training School. Essie was employed for a number of years for Wehadkee Yarn Mill. Tiny enjoyed life and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Essie was the greatest mom in the world and her children are going to miss her terribly.

Ms. Dates began her eternal journey on the evening of Tuesday, November 16, 2020, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Wilson Dates; her parents, Harry and Mary Fomby; four sisters, Katie Fomby, Viola Swain, Emaline Fomby and Bertha Fomby; and two brothers, Harry Lee Fomby and Eddie Fomby.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Nancy (Anthony) Johnson, Alice Fomby and Marcia (Trell) Fomby-Jackson of Talladega, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Fraricka, Fratavis, Kenneth, D’Anthony, Quamaine, Kameshia and Domanic; six great grandchildren, Ju’Tario, Kevin, Tavionna, Raveyia, Alaysia and Malaysia; four sisters, Theresa Reynolds of Alpine, Alabama, Elizabeth Garrett of Sylacauga, Alabama, Flossie Garrett of Akron, Ohio and Frances Fomby of Buffalo, New York; three brothers, Cecil Fomby and Edward Fomby of Talladega, Alabama and James (Betty) Fomby of Buffalo, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
