Obituary For Ms. Sharlene Clarke

Sharlene “Candy” Clarke entered into her eternal life on Sunday, November 15, 2020. She was born on July 25,1953 in High Point, NC to the late President Buddy Clark and Clara Mae Clark. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by four brothers, Roosevelt Clark, Henry Glasgow, James Glasgow and Jonny Glasgow; one sister, Janie Mae Clark-Woods; a special nephew, Marcus L. Suber.

Sharlene worked at Sara Lee Hosiery Mill in Winston Salem, NC. Sharlene was a faithful member of Markhams Chapel Baptist Church in Durham, NC. Candy, as she was called by family and friends, attended school in High Point, NC. She graduated from Thomas Wingate Andrews High School and attended Western Carolina University. She loved her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Candy also had a great love of nicknames for all her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed all the special times that she shared with each of them. She had one special niece, Mrs. Wendy Harbison, that she enjoyed watching Family Feud with. Candy also enjoyed watching The Waltons and The Golden Girls.

Surviving to cherish the legacy of her love and affection are two sons, Guy (Carla) Whitlock, Jr. of Orlando FL, Justin (Crystal ) Lamont Clark of Chapel Hill NC; one honorary son, Jameer Gallmom-Meade of Harrisburg PA; two sisters, Lillie Clark-Pike of Durham, NC and Thelma C. (Robert) Suber of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Daniel Glasgow of High Point, NC; ten grandchildren, Raheem, Monte, Makiya, Emantie, Sekoyia, Justin, Jeremiah, Jayce, Jabri and Jabriya.

A private funeral will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Ms. Clarke may be viewed on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
