Obituary For Sammie McCoy

Mr. Sammie L. McCoy, 78, formerly of Seale, AL passed Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in Chicago, IL. Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon EST, Monday, November 23, 2020 at Providence Baptist Church, (Lato Community) Seale, AL with Rev. Felix Worthen, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Mr. McCoy was bornMarch 14, 1942 in Seale, AL to the late Walter McCoy and the late Corine Jones McCoy. He was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Olive High School, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama; attended Alabama A & M University, Huntsville, AL and was drafted in the US Army in 1967. He was employed at Chicago Transit Authority as a Conductor and eventually promoted to a Motorman. He retired after 33 years of service. He was an active member of Carter Temple CME Church for more than 28 years. He is survive by his wife, Vinetta Mohn-McCoy, Chicago, IL; daughter, Kimberly McCoy, Chicago, IL; four sisters, Freddie M. (Rev. John) Givens, Patterson, NJ, Gladiolus (Thad) Givens, III, Huntersville, NC, Mason (the late Amos) Brown, Troy, AL and Dr. Carrie L. McCoy, Gaithersburg, MD; four brothers, Calvin (Clara) McCoy, Columbus, GA, Paris (JoAnn) McCoy, Sr., Seale, AL, Walter McCoy, Jr., Birmingham, AL and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Eddie J. McCoy, Chattanooga, TN; a host of other relatives and friends.
