I was shocked to hear about the passing of a lifelong friend. Ricky and I played together as children when he would come to Murfreesboro in the summer to visit his relatives. His mom, his aunt Ella and my mom were close friends as well. And when Ricky moved to Murfreesboro following high school, he and I often hung out: my mom enjoyed having Ricky at our house, and she always considered him as a great young man and positive influence on me, as he was two years older. Living in Michigan now for more than 34 years, I didn't see Ricky much when I left Tennessee, but we did connect regularly via Facebook. We joked just a few weeks ago about a bad Tennessee Titans loss; Ricky loved the Titans, and I had become a frustrated Lions fan. Ricky was a great man, loved and respected by family and friends. I am very sad at his passing, yet I know that he is now in a better place. I will always miss you, my old friend! Michael Smith Kalamazoo, Michigan
