Obituary For Lawrence "L.T." Winters, Sr.

Lawrence Terry Winters, Sr. "L.T. Winters" was born sixth out of eight children to T.J. Winters and Virginia Greggory Winters in Kosciusko, Mississippi on April 26, 1946.

Lawrence was formally known by family and friends as, "L.T." He drafted in the U.S. Army in 1967. L.T. served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a medic. He was a qualified expert on the M14 rifle near the completion of basic training at Fort Campbell, KY. L.T. scored the highest mark a soldier can achieve on the weapons qualification test. With an honorable discharge in 1970, he moved back to Milwaukee, WI.

He joined Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church, Kosciusko, Mississippi at an early age. Lawrence was employed by St. Regis Paper Company, Falks, and retired from St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Some of his hobbies included: fishing and watching sports. He also loved CNN, a good laugh, and family gatherings where he was the life of the party. Lawrence was warm hearted and very giving to those around him and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Lawrence was proceeded in death by his parents T.J. Winters and Virginia Greggory Winters, one sister, Rena Love, and one brother, Jim Winters.

He leaves his cherished memories to his loving wife, Allie Mallett-Winters, Kosciusko, MS; one daughter, Rhonda Winters, Houston, TX; four sons: Lawrence T. Winters, Jr. and Tyrone Winters, both of Houston, TX; Michael Smith, Milwaukee, WI; Lawrence T. Winters IV, Chicago, IL; Two step-sons: Andrew Anderson, Kosciusko, MS; Melvin M. Anderson III, Port Gibson, MS; one god-daughter, Marie Marks, Milwaukee, WI; four sisters: Airmand (Lemon) Cocroft, Milwaukee, WI; Victoria Allen, Milwaukee, WI; Yvonne (Leroy) Todd, Sunflower, AL; Daisy (Anotha) Burt, Atlanta, GA; one brother, Marshall (Louise) Winters, Milwaukee, WI; two stepsisters, Mary Kern, Milwaukee, WI; Louise Kern, Memphis, TN; one aunt, Willie Martin, 27 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Deotsie (James) Edwards, Dina Ruth Mallett and a host of nieces and nephews.

PLACE OF GRAVESIDE: Parkside Cemetery, Kosciusko, MS

INTERMENT: Parkway Cemetery, Kosciusko, MS
