MR. CLARENCE G. HILLIARD, age 79, departed this life November 9, 2020 in Saint Francis Hospital-Barlett, Memphis, TN. He was the son of the late George and Alice Williamson Hilliard, born February 28, 1941 in Henderson, NC. He was also preceded in death by his siblings- Henry Hilliard, Mary Lee Ragland, Thurston Hilliard, Jessie Brandon, Melvin Hilliard and Marie Ford. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who spoke few words but connected with everyone. Clarence relocated to New Jersey and began working for Linden Packing Company. He later worked for and retired from the City of East Orange Parks and Recreation. While a day’s work would take him away from his home early, you could not beat him preparing Saturday for Sunday worship services. He was a charter member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Elton T. Byrd where he served as an usher and trustee. During his later days, you would find him with his IPad in hand, watching his grandson, Al, II, play football. Al and Aleyla were most definitely his pride and joy. Clarence leaves to mourn two daughters- Bridget (James) Foreman and Vera (Al) Wooten; grandchildren- Al, II and Aleyla Wooten; a sister- Lucille Hilliard and sister-in-law, Dorthea Hilliard; special friend- Thelma Hilliard, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
