Obituary For Merion Rippy

Mrs. Merion Neely Rippy was born June 29, 1916 in Bowling Green, South Carolina to the late Mattie Carlton Neely and Henry Neely. She later moved to Gastonia, North Carolina where she married the late William Rippy.

Merion N. Rippy was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and a true servant of the Lord, giving her praises to him each and every day. Merion was a hard worker as a maid and a cook. She loved cooking for family and friends and sitting down to enjoy her favorite evening television shows with her husband. She also loved her Sunday-best hats and her pet cats.

Mama, Grandma, Grams were the names that Merion was known as by her beloved grandchildren She was a great storyteller and shared many wonderful stories with her children and her children’s children. She always had the softest smile and her hugs were the best. Merion was at her happiest when her children were home and surrounding her.

She made the best biscuits like nobody’s business with smothered chicken and many other delicious meals. She made and did everything with love and it truly showed. After giving so many years of love and being so loved by many, she transitioned from this world to her new heavenly home on November 22, 2020.

Merion was preceded in death by seven of her children, Elizabeth Watson, Lester Ray Neely, Jesse Neely, Katherine Fredrick, Willie Bee Campbell, Elijah Rippy, Raymond Rippy, and grandson Donnie Rippy.

In life, her children Walter Lee, Ida R. Patterson, Ralph (Gwen), Leo, grandchildren, great -grandchildren, great–great grandchildren, loving niece Ethel Cooke, and other family members and friends will continue to cherish her memory.

Funeral: Friday; November 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.; Gregory Funeral Service Chapel, Gastonia

Visitation: one hour before the service at the chapel

Interment: Oakland Cemetery, Gastonia

So sorry to hear of your loss, albeit Heaven's gain. We were neighbors for over 60 years. We took great comfort in checking in on her before she moved to the nursing home. You should take comfort that she lived a long life and now at rest and peace with the Lord. Mickey Sadler and Family
