Ms. Dockery, Mr. Furman, was a patient that I will never forget. He was ALWAYS nice to me and I loved how he would give the office a "run for their money". It was funny to me. That is just one of the wonderful memories I had of him. I also loved how he would always say " ask my wife" amd how he was still "courting" you. Such good memories. Love you, "B" Davis

Sylvia, Eddie and I enjoyed the times that Furman brought you to Pittsboro to visit us. We will remember his jovial spirit. Losing a loved one is a difficult experience, and each time takes on its own meaning. You have many lasting memories to hold onto. Your nursing classmate at NCA&T, 1968-1972, and your friend over the many years, Marva Mizell Price

To my dear sister and friend Sylvia, My heart goes out to you and the family at the passing of Furman. The two of you shared a very special relationship. You were indeed Soulmates. My mind goes back to the days when he was courting you. It would be nothing to see him in the clinic talking to you everyday when he was supposed to be driving the bus (smile). Losing a loved one is never easy, but I pray you will be comforted by the knowledge that he truly loved and cared for you until the end. He is at peace now. Let the strength of the love you shared and the precious memories you made give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. I love you and will keep you and the family in prayer. Miss Sylvia as I read your text message and broke down. Papa and I had plans after Covid to travel, he had already map out his year and put it on my calendar to be his driver. I send my condolences to the family and friends. I adopted papa and could call him to help calm my nerves whenever I was going through something. It saddens me that I am not able to get that great advice from papa and him making sure I get off the phone laughing because he made a joke. The last conversation I had with papa was him calling me to tell me not to get on my motorcycle pregnant with that baby. I said how you figure that? He told me he had people watching me (lol). I told him he must have been reading my mind because I want to ride so bad, but I know I can't. Papa was the kind of individual who looked out for those who had his best interest at heart. Papa, Ferman A Dockery you will truly be missed. I wasn't able to let you see the baby, but I want you to know she is healthy. The girls, my husband and I miss you and will cherish the day we all sat and had a great conversation at the VA. Love Canda aka Kina and the Family (Charrales, Zaharah, Zanadyia and baby Carmen).

Through the years, Richard and I were privileged to be the recipients of Mr. Ferman's generosity. I remember going over to celebrate Danielle's graduation. So much laughter with food and family. Ferman loved to fry fish and tell stories. He would send us money for helping Sylvia through her chemo treatments. It never seemed right for us to accept it. We were just doing what we thought was right. Regardless, Ferman wanted us to have that money. His heart was so big. He lives on through his children and family. We share his families' loss and pray for God to wrap his loving arms around you.
