Obituary For Jesse H. "June" Carter, Jr.

Jesse H. "June" Carter, 81, of Surry Court, Martinsville, departed this life on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at SOVAH Health Martinsville. He was born in Virginia on February 17, 1939, the son of the late Jesse Carter, Sr. and the late Lillian Carter Eggleston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita "Sweat Pea" Carter.

"June" as he was affectionately called, was a member of the Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Usher Board, and Sunday School. He retired from the Henry County School System after many years of service, and also, from Tultex Corporation.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Anna Martin Carter of the home; two daughters, Andrea Carter Best of Sana Monica, CA, and Ursula Watkins of Axton, VA; two sons, Nakia O'Brian "Kiki"(Nikki) Carter, and Ricky Simon both of Martinsville, VA; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Cheathum of Martinsville, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 12 p.m. at the Carter Family Cemetery, Meadow Garden Road, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face Covering, and social distancing is required. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, November 30, 2020, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
