Mrs Cherry Horne was my music Teacher at Westside High School. She was also a frien and mentor. She was a very caring woman. I always looked forward to going to her music class and being in the chorus. She was a beacon of light to a lot of us young children back in the 60's. Rest in heavenly peace Mrs Horne. Job well done. Mrs. Horne was my first voice teacher. On Mother's Day in 1960 she took me to Macedonia Baptist Church to sing the beautiful Irish ballad "Mother Machree." I was twelve years old. For the next five years she took me to various events where I performed classical and sacred works that she chose. The experience has had a lasting effect on my life. Sixty years later I am still benefiting from the musical foundation she gave me. Thank you Mrs. Horne for nurturing my talent and giving me my first opportunity to share with others the magical world of music. Cynthia Rose Lane

Mrs. Horne was such a sweet and caring person and a outstanding music teacher. My husband and I met her when we moved to Valdosta, GA. I got to know her better when I became a member of the Valdosta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She had a such a loving and sweet spirit about her. She talked about the Lord and how she loved her church, community and her Sorority. May God bless the family and keep you close in your time of sorrow. Sharon & Calvin M. Walker 75S8
