Obituary For Veronica Hairston

Veronica Hairston, 66, of Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Sunday, November 29,2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Virginia on March 6, 1954, the daughter of Virginia Hodge Gravely and the late William Cecil Gravely. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil Roger Gravely.

Veronica was a member of the First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Hospitality Ministry, the Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Choir. She was a graduate of Laurel Park High School class of 1972. She worked for Walmart for 18 years.

Veronica leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Richard A. "Moon" Hairston of the home; one son, Ryan (Heather) Hairston of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Ryan "RJ" Hairston, Riyanna Hairston and Aliyah Loewy all of Atlanta, GA, and De'Ajah Hairston of Martinsville, VA; three sisters, Laurneal (James) Lyon of Baytown, TX, Vera G. (Ronald) Spencer and Linda M. (James) Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, James W. "Nub" Gravely and Glenn M. Gravely both of Martinsville, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 12 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Pastor John F. Adams, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC guidelines, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, VA.
