Obituary For Mrs. Frances Victorine Bonam

Mrs. Frances Victorine Bonam died peacefully in her sleep at the great age of 98 on November 27, 2020 at We Care Hospice, Moss Point, MS. She was born in Pascagoula on March 6, 1922 to Olivia and Walter Joseph Barial. “Vicky” was a dedicated member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Pascagoula. At age seventeen she joined the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Our Lady of Lourdes, Court #4. Last year she was recognized for having attained eighty years of meritorious service in the Order. Lady Bonam was the granddaughter of Knights of Peter Claver founder, Brother Frank Collins, and her mother was Past Grand Lady Olivia Collins Barial. Mrs. Bonam served as Jr. Daughter Counselor and Chair of the Audit Committee, she taught CCD classes, and she was an integral part of the Annual Spring Tea and Carnival Balls. For many years she worked alongside her mother, brother and sister serving customers at Barial’s Grocery, the family store on Pascagoula Street. Like many who grew up during the Great Depression, Vicky valued hard work and frugality. She was a hardy soul who could maneuver her riding lawnmower well into her eighties. Mrs. Bonam was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert; her sister, Marie Bonam and her brother, Walter J. Barial. She is survived by her devoted brother, F. X. “Bobby” Barial; sister-in-law, Sylvia Barial; sons, Dan and Herb; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Saturday, December 5, 2020, from 9:30-10:45 a.m., at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church, 1715 Telephone Road, Pascagoula, Mississippi. I remember when Mrs.Victorine taught me in C.C.D. and she had a profound effect on me for the last of my life. I used her model to teach and volunteer at Saint Peter's Church and later to take those skills at the various places that I lived abroad. I had often mention her name to my youth so therefore family you should be very proud of her impact on many lives she have touch in the community. I will be Praying for through these stormy days but beyond the clouds a rainbow appears. Sonia (Bovastro) Best Chesapeake,VA
