Obituary For Doris Skinner

Ms. Doris Teen Kirkland Skinner, 74 of Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. She was born on July 13, 1946 in Shaw, MS., (Sunflower County), to Ethel Lee Ivory-Tripplett and the late Charlie Kirkland.

Seeking a more enriched life, in 1976, at age 30, Momma and her family relocated to Chicago, IL. where she established her relationship with Christ under the leadership of Elder Taylor at North Chicago Church of God in Christ. After moving to Shelby, NC in 1995 she was an active member of the Righteous Church of God Incorporated and a caretaker of Williford Temple Righteous Church of God. When her work with RCOG was concluded, she joined Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church Of God. Doris, known as Sister Skinner was very dedicated to her walk with Christ. She was known as a prayer warrior and called upon many times to pray on behalf of many people . Everyone loved her earnest spirit, spiritual boldness, and her unique praise dance could get anyone in the mood to praise the Lord!

Mama was the heartbeat of our family. She was our rock who always kept each and everyone of us covered in prayer. Mama was so selfless and didn’t have much, but she had plenty of Christ. She would give her last to make sure our family was okay. We will miss her smile with a flash of gold, her loud laugh, good food, her stories and her warmth. Although we are heartbroken, we take comfort in knowing that Mama is with the Lord in a place with no more losses, pain and suffering.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Skinner Sr.; daughter, Doris Ann Brown and son, Stevie D. Skinner; brother, Ollie B Triplett Jr.; sister, Wyvonia Morris and brother, Roger Lee Tripplett.

She is survived by Sons, James Lee Skinner Jr (Felicia) San Antonio, TX, Larry Skinner and Cornelius Skinner both of the home and Barrett Skinner Fort Pierce, FL; Grandchildren: Jarshekia Kowalewski (Steve) Tampa, FL, Christopher Skinner San Antonio, TX, Queen Skinner Fort Lauderdale, FL, Corey Skinner Summerville, SC, Chyna Skinner Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jayden Skinner Summerville, SC, Zariyah Skinner Port St Lucie, FL, Alana Skinner San Antonio, TX and Tyler Skinner West Palm Beach, FL Brothers Jerry Tripplett, David Tripplett Indianola, MS; Sisters, Ruby Burns (JD), Cahokia, IL, Linda Johnson (George) Greenville, MS. and Mary Young Indianola, MS seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and distant relatives.
