Ms. Phyllis Marie Hunter Bryant was born in Richmond County Georgia, on January 12, 1955. She was the fifth child born to the late Virginia Winfrey Hunter and Johnny Douglas Hunter, Sr; grandson of the late Triphelia and Andre Winfrey. Siblings who preceded in death were Pete Hunter, Johnny D. Hunter Jr., Arthur Kelly Hunter, and Betty Hunter.
Phyllis attended Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Phyllis was a star basketball player at Josey High School. Phyllis started work at Fort Gordon, at 17 years old, until she retired at age 62. Phyllis labored for 45 years. She was a world class chef who loved to cater and feed your soul; physically and spiritually. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: Four children, (Tarra Stone) and Jimmy Finklin; Augusta, GA, (Marva) and Jerry Finklin; Augusta, GA, (Antoine) and Hope Hudgins; Norfolk, Virginia, and (Melissa) and Marvis Foster; Augusta, GA, 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters Sylvia H. Anfield, and Mary Richardson; four brothers, Kevin Hunter; Augusta GA, Ken Hunter, Augusta, GA, Varian Hunter, and Anthony Hunter; Augusta, GA, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and Best friends; Elaine, and Cynthia Walker.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at White Oak Baptist Church, 1609 Stage Coach Road, Thomson, Georgia, Reverend Chavous Boyd, officiating.
Public viewing will be Friday, December 11, 2020 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
