I am also a member of Allen. Martha was one of our older members, as I am. There are only a few of us left. She was so nice and sought me out just to see how I was doing. I will miss her smile and her fond hellos. RIP, my friend until we meet again in heaven. Condolences to the family. God bless.

To the Mobley Family: Allen Chapel AME Church and Stewardess Board, Number 2 brought Martha and me together as sisters in Christ and we became good friends. She was one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever had the privilege to know. She was my counselor and my friend. She showed me how to be the best stewardess I could be through her example. She supported me through breast cancer surgery and recovery, and she always sent the first Christmas card I received every year including 2020. We laughed as we talked about HVACs, the fun had on church trips, especially to see the Radio City Rockettes, attending Mother Bethel AME Church in Philadelphia and all of our church fellowships (especially those with food). I'll always think of her with the lyrics from the hymn "Blest Be the Tie that Binds." ...our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above." Sis. Beverly Cowser

I had the pleasure of knowing Martha as a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church's Stewardess Board, Junior Senior Ministry, and Church School. In Junior Senior Ministry she "recruited" me to join her in kitchen duty when we served food following Bible study. In Church School we were together as members of Adult Class I where she took on the role of attendance taker. For the Primary Class she signed in our students when they arrived and supervised them until the teachers took charge. Martha was the one who "recruited" me to become a Primary Class teacher. Generously giving me gifts for Christmas, birthdays, and new grandbabies, Martha was not only my recruiter, she was also my friend. I will miss her tremendously, but I know that our loss is heaven's gain. With love and sympathy, Hilda B. Osborne

To the Mobley family. I am a member of Allen Chapel AME Church. I met Martha many years ago, but it wasn't until I started working in the church's Food Pantry that I really got to know her. She was a wonderful and kind person...just a joy to know her. She loved the wig that I wore. She would tease me and say she wanted it and that she was going to snatch it off my head. My heart is saddened and I will miss her dearly. RIH Martha and God Bless her....Jacqueline Bobo

To the Mobley Family. I am a member of Allen Chapel A.M. E. Church, Washington D.C. I am deeply saddened to learn of Martha's passing. We have worked together for nearly 20 years on the same Stewardess Board at Allen Chapel where we formed a great friendship. She and I would arrive at church early during our Board's required time to dress the alter where we had good fellowship and dialogue. Also, she and I attended Sunday School and the weekly Junior Senior Ministry Bible Study Class together. She and I both love to shop at the Macy's store near our homes. I would frequently see her there during their sales, and we would chat about our great bargains. Martha was a loving and caring person whom I will miss dearly. My sincere sympathy to the family. May God comfort and strengthen you during this very sad and difficult time. Love, Rosalind S. Cleveland

To the Family of Martha Mobley. I am also a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E church. Martha and I served on the Stewardess Board and we attended the Junior Senior Ministry. Martha and I became friends when I retired, she invited me to the Wellness Center where we exercised and went on trips. We also took a computer course together. I cherish our friendship and will miss her deeply. Keeping you close in thought and prayer during this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Lucy Rhodes

Martha and I were sisters in Christ. We worked together with the Allen Chapel Church School. Martha worked diligently with the classes that met on the Third floor. Martha would greet the children each Sunday keeping a record of their attendance, ages and birthdates. After this she would attend the adult class. We have shared many wonderful stories about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. She loved working in the vineyard. She will be missed by her church family. Farewell thy good and faithful servant. May you Rest In Peace. Velina Sutton, Primary 2, Church school teacher. Allen Chapel AME Church.

To the Mobley Family: Martha and I have been friends for more than 30 years. Interestingly, we attend Allen AME Church in SE Washington, DC, and were involved in the food pantry, Sunday School, and a host of other ministries and volunteer efforts. I enjoyed meeting her nephew, Shun Griffin, and having him visit with the Allen church community, too. I am so sad to learn of her passing. There are so many memories, phone calls, and moments shared with Martha I will cherish. Martha was so loved. Her spirit was warm and kind and I will miss her dearly. Please know, while I cannot grieve with you in person, I grieve with you in spirit as her DC family moans with you. Peace, blessings, and sympathies. With love, Mrs. Ruth Gregory
