"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of my beloved husband, Dr. James Lavert Netters, Sr., Pastor Emeritus of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood where he served for more than sixty years. My beloved husband was a Trail Blazer, Civil Rights Activist, National Legend, Change Agent, Servant Leader, but most importantly, a Gospel Preacher. He served this city, county, state and this nation well. He lived a long, rich and full life of 93 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him because a true servant has gone from labor to reward. One of his favorite quotes is "May the work I've done speak for me."
