Born June 3, 1944 in Des Arc, AK, she proudly served in the Navy from 1962-65 as a Corpsman in nursing care, first aid, and minor surgery. She attended nursing school and worked as a registered nurse, becoming a homemaker when her second daughter was born in 1975.
She will forever be remembered by her former husband, Bernhardt L. Geldmeier, and their children, Laura Geldmeier and Jennifer Reinheimer; grandchildren – Jackson and Carter Reinheimer; and numerous beloved family members and friends that she considered family. She is now reunited with her parents, Clarence Victor Kunkel and Mary Ruth Piety; and brothers – Donald, Charles, and Victor Kunkel.
The legacy of June’s kind heart and generosity will live on through those that knew her. No one was considered a stranger.
The family wishes to thank the staff at New Mexico State Veterans Home for their dedication and extraordinary care and acknowledge with deep appreciation Benny Espinosa, Laura Espinosa, and Andy Phelps for their treasured friendship.
A service honoring her will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, on December 29, 2020 at 3:00 P.M.
