Dr. Michael Wayne Walker

Dr. Michael Wayne Walker, Silver Spring, Maryland, entered into rest Tuesday, December 15, 2020, 2:46 a.m. at George Washington Hospital.

Born to Willis James Walker Sr., and Almeta Brown Walker on August 16, 1945 in Augusta, Georgia.

Dr. Walker was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School Class of 1963. He graduated with honors from Johnson C. Smith University Class of 1967 and later received a doctorate in dental surgery from Howard University Class of 1974.

Dr. Walker served and retired from the United States Air Force (Rome, NY) Dental Corps. He dedicated over 30 years of service to the federal government and was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

He was a spirited and loving brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

Survivors include former wife, Laura Coley (Walker); one daughter, Angela Coley Gardiner (Thomas); one grandson, Christopher Gardiner; two sons, Carl and Robert Walker; two brothers preceded him in death, W. J. Walker Jr., D.M.D, and Barry Walker, two living brothers, Clinton (Dwala) Walker, Sr., and Charles (Annie) Walker; sister-in-law, Gloria Walker; as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Hepzibah, GA 30815 and officiated by Reverend Dr. Dwayne M. Crew.
