Obituary For Mrs. Johnnie Mae Booker

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Booker entered into rest Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 120 Watkins Street, Augusta, Georgia with Rev. Dr. Sam Davis. Social distancing will be observed and mask are required.

A public viewing will be held at W. H. Mays Mortuary, on Thursday, December 24, 2020 from 11a.m. til 2 p.m.

Johnnie Mae Booker, was the daughter of The late Rosa M. Briscoe and The late Johnny Noble on September 14, 1941.

Johnnie Mae was a native of Augusta, Georgia. She was baptized at a young age at The Historic Springfield Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. She later became a lifelong faithful member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church. She married Jessie Lee Booker Sr. at the age of 19, and from this union five children were born. Johnnie Mae dedicated many years to working as an operating room technician at Medical College of Georgia, which she later retired. She was a active and devoted member of Lucy C. Laney Class of 1960. Johnnie Mae had a love for many things including her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Booker; her sisters, Mildred Wise and Annie Benefield; her brothers, James Briscoe III and Willis Briscoe.

Johnnie Mae was loved by many and leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Jessie L.(Carolyn) Booker Jr. of Jonesboro, Ga., Leon (Rose) Booker Sr. of Morrow, Ga. Eric (Samantha) Booker, Troy (Tonda) Booker Sr., and one daughter Pamela (Derrick) Drayton all of Augusta. One Brother Leroy (Dorothy) Briscoe, and two sisters, Belinda Briscoe, and Sandra Briscoe all of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends. W. H.
