Obituary For Robert Rankin

Robert Lee "Bob" Rankin, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his home. He was born in Lincolnton on February 1, 1952 to Margaret Lineberger Rankin and William Benjamin Rankin. He was a graduate of Lincolnton High School, Appalachian State University, and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton. Bob and his parents owned and operated Rankin's Jewelers on Main Street in Lincolnton for over 50 years. While working there he became a Registered Jeweler with the GIA. As an active member of the business community, he served as President of the Lincolnton Rotary Club. When the jewelry store closed in 2006, Bob worked part time at the Denver ABC Store. He worked there 12 years enjoying the company of many co-workers who became dear friends. Bob loved golfing, travelling, telling stories, beach music, dancing and his favorite dogs Ruby and Little Bit. Bob was famous for his cooking and especially his New Year's Day greens following his own secret recipe. Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Anna, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Amy and Joey Lockman, several cousins and many cherished friends.

Due to Covid 19 and concern for our friends, there will be no service at this time. If you wish, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincolnton or First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton.

Bob Rankin was a lover of good times. He was a great dancer, story teller and had one of the sweetest golf swings ever. He was my fraternity brother and I can remember nothing but happy times in his presence. His life is to be celebrated! He made a positive difference in the many lives he crossed paths with. Shag on Bob! You are fondly remembered.
