Johnnie Florence Johnson

Mrs. Johnnie Florence Fondren Johnson, the second of three children, was born August 21, 1921, in Attala County to William and Elma Ashford Fondren. She was joined in holy matrimony to James Peeler Johnson. This union was blessed with nine children.

Mother Johnnie Florence accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Church and later joined Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member.

She received her early education in the Attala County School System. After raising her children, she went back to school to get her GED with the help of her youngest son, Jimmy Johnson. Mother Johnnie Florence was a great seamstress. She made her children's clothes for school and she made clothes for special occasions. She was a woman of great conviction who spoke her mind.

Mother Johnnie Florence departed this life on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at home with family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, five children, Grace, James Jr., Charles, Jimmie Lee and James Edwards: her sisters, Mae and Emma Mae.

She leaves to cherish her memories four (4) loving children: John Edward ( Nola Mae) Johnson, Sam (Gladys L. Hood) Johnson, Betty Gordon, and Thelma Ruth (Edgar) Hornsby; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Johnson and a special loving grand-daughter: Angela Johnson; God-daughter: Annie M. Johnson, thirteen (13) grandchildren; sixteen (16) great grandchildren; fifteen (15) great-great grandchildren; a special son: Charles E. Hull; Special Niece: Katherine Martin; a special cousin: Deacon Chester Cole; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. PLACE OF GRAVESIDE: Mt. Zion Cemetery, Kosciusko, MS
