Obituary For Mr. James Hope

Mr. James Arthur Hope, Jr. departed this life on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 7, 1951 in Dillon County, SC, a son of the late James A. Hope, Sr., and Elizabeth McInnis Hope. He was raised in Robeson County, NC.

James Arthur was employed with the City of High Point and was a dedicated mason. He was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where he attended Noon Day Bible Study faithfully. James Arthur enjoyed playing his bass guitar, striking a chord and family nerves. He also enjoyed fishing and playing spades. James Arthur had such an impact on anyone’s life he encountered. His loving and caring nature will always be remembered. His playful sense of humor and laughter will always be cherished. He will truly be missed.

Surviving relatives to cherish memories include his loving wife of 50 years, Lenase Graves Hope; two sons, Arthur Hope and Richard Hope; two daughters, Elizabeth (Darryll) Collier and Latoya Wall; two granddaughters, Jaikyla Hope of Maryland and Aalyah Byers of High Point, NC, whom he loved dearly and spoiled rotten; two sisters, Carolyn Williams of New York, NY and Shirley Cook of Florence SC; brother, Pernell (Valarie) Douglas of Winston-Salem, NC; two aunts, Katie Hope and Retha Hope; two uncles, W. D. Hope and Douglas Hope; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; brothers and sisters in-law, Ted and Bertha Alford, James and Senter Bethea, Doretha Bildon, Patricia Johnson and Essie Jones; god granddaughter, Jayla Dunlap.

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mr. Hope may be viewed on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
