Obituary For Susie Mae Slaughter Brooks

Graveside service for Susie Mae Brooks, 89, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, County Road 28, Lafayette, AL 36862, Reverend Calvin Marshall will officiate.

Mrs. Brooks, who passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette, Alabama, was born June 22, 1931 in Chambers County, Alabama.

There will be no public viewing for Mrs. Brooks.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Howard (Carolyn) Brooks, Jr. and Larry Brooks both of Opelika, AL; one brother, Thaddeus Slaughter, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD; five grandchildren, Angela Logan of Morrow, GA, Shanda Brooks of Ellenwood, GA, Gabriel (Sandra) Brooks of Alexandria, VA and Hoda Brooks of Raleigh, NC and Lance Brooks Columbia, MD; four great grandchildren, Audrie, Raegan, Ahmad and Isaac; one great-great granddaughter, Ariya; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
