A Life to be Remembered

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." II Timothy 4:7

Lloyde Andrew England, born to the late Clyde and Sallie (Jamieson) on April 25, 1934 in Washington, D.C., departed his earthly life after a lengthy illness. He was baptized at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church, Arlington, VA.

Lloyde was an only child. He graduated from Armstrong High School in Washington, D.C. where he met Hester B. Lewis. They married in 1954, had seven children, and lived in Arlington, VA. He spent most of his career working for Capitol Cab Cooperative Association in Washington, D.C., where he was a representative on the Taxi Cab Commission, member advocate, board member and driver. Before joining Capitol Cab, he worked for Greyhound and Maloney Concrete. Lloyde was also a certified mechanic and enjoyed working on cars, especially Fords.

Lloyde grew up having close relationships with his cousins and life-long friends. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road and developed an enthusiasm for riding motorcycles, Harley’s in particular. He was a proud member of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motor Cycle Club, MD1 Chapter. Lloyde was a courageous survivor of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

Lloyde was a family man and a caring son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife Hester and son Lloyde England II. He is survived by his children Cerise England Thrift, Michael (Julie), Nancy (Marion) England-Adams, Timothy, Phyllis, and Florence; grandchildren Michael England Jr., Nicole, Erica, and William Walker, Lloyde England III, Mark Lewis II, Nathaniel Tate, Kendra England-Combs; 13 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, five nieces and nephews, special friend Shirley Hughes and step-daughter Felecia Hughes-Overton and a host of relatives, friends, and club members.

Guest Book

Brother England was one of my most respected guiding elders since joining the Blue Knights MD-I. He and Pop Holmes (deceased) were two of my most respected. Bro. (Mr.) England will be missed with much sorrow. I know we all have to pass on one day; but it is so painful when it is someone who is held so dear. You are sorely missed my Brother. Raleigh Demby, Blue Knights MD 1

Family, certainly words can't heal the broken heart, kind gestures somehow just aren't enough to ease the pain you feel. But Christ's love and tenderness and compassion will hold you and comfort you during this time of grief. Rest well my dear cousin.

I love you all, and I grieve at your loss. It is my sincerest prayer that God the Lord of all, gives you the peace of knowing that Lloyde is with him, that he will come and in some small way let you know that he has found peace in the hands of the Father.
