Layden Taylor, Jr. (AKA Larry), the third child born to the late Layden Taylor, Sr. and Elmyra (Nee Brooks) Taylor was born May 29, 1946 in Plymouth, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Frierson Taylor and a sister, Joyce (Nee Taylor) Odesanya. He received his formal education in the public schools of Plymouth, North Carolina. After graduation, he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he pursued training as an Entrepreneur. He eventually opened his own Video Store for the duration of Video era. He was a consultant at Enterprise Car Rental before relocating to South Carolina. After retirement, he became a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina where he sang on the Male Choir. With his soulmate of fifty years, they made beautiful jewelry together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin to all. On Monday, January 4, 2021, God saw fit to call His precious child, Layden Taylor, Jr. home. His wonderful and beautiful life will be cherished by his loving son, Lionel Taylor, Brooklyn, NY; two granddaughters, Dominique Edwards, Bronx, NY and Tanjahla Brown, Brooklyn, NY; one grandson, Sasha Edwards, Bronx, NY; one great grandson, Etienne Welch, Jr., Bronx, NY; three sisters, Gloria (Nee Taylor) Slappy, Brooklyn, NY, Lois Fay Taylor, Canton, OH and Janice (Nee Taylor) Hoggard, Plymouth, NC; one uncle, Harold (Clara) Brooks, Plymouth, NC; Felton Harris, the patriarch of our family, Queens, NY; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Mr. Taylor will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC.

Due to COVID-19, the family is not receiving visitors. Friends may drive thru, sign memorial book on porch and leave cards, etc.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to the Tuomey Foundation (ICU), 102 North Main Street, Sumter, SC 29150 in memory of Layden Taylor, Jr. Acknowledgements of your donations will be forwarded to the family.
