Obituary For Mattie Louise Hilton Wilson

Manning, SC

Mattie Louise Hilton Wilson, daughter of the late Joe Hilton and Louise Hilton Hilton was born September 22, 1948 in Manning, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rigby Hilton and James Davis Hilton and one sister, Pearline Hilton Miller.

Mattie was loved and cherished by her high school sweetheart, the late Hugh Edward Wilson, Sr. Their union was blessed with four children. Mattie was loved by everyone she met, she loved laughing joking and dancing.

She received her education at Manning Training School. Mattie loved the Lord first and foremost and served him well in her family church of Society Hill AME where she served in many auxiliaries including the Usher board, the Senior Choir, the Missionary Board and Stewardess Board for more than 50 years. In her leisure time she loved taking care of her grandchildren, creating sewing projects, cooking and cruising with her husband taking many vacations during the year. When Mattie was not present in Society Hill AME Church she served the Lord with her husband at Community Deliverance Temple, Alcolu, South Carolina.

In her latter years, she was a wife, a mother, a homemaker, a grandmother, guidance counselor and a friend. She was employed by Summerton Apparel until the doors closed . She helped take care of her mother, later returned to work with Clarendon County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs until she retired. She enjoyed attending Branco Adult Daycare in Manning, South Carolina. Mattie Louise Hilton Wilson, heard her master’s call on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at McLeod Health Clarendon Hospital in Manning, South Carolina.

Left to cherish her memories are her four children: Latonya Marie (Darrel) Ragin; Demeatra Wilson, Hugh E. (Sabrina) Wilson Jr. and Tosha Denice Wilson all of Manning SC; seven grandchildren, Corey Phillips, Darrel M. Ragin, Jr., Zion Phillips, Jazmyn Ragin, Syderial Wilson, Latavius Wilson and Breanna Wilson; one great-grandchild, Ja-Kobe Phillips; three sisters, Nadean Ragin of Baltimore, MD, Mary Lucas and Elloree (Romie) Cantey both of Manning, SC; two brothers, Joe (Rosa Lee) Hilton Jr. and Leo (Rosa Ann) Hilton both of Manning, SC; four aunts, Ruby Hilton, Effie Hilton, Elease Hilton all of Manning SC, Corinda Hilton of Miami, FL; four sisters-in- law, Deloris Hilton and Margaret Ann Hilton Dawson both of Manning, SC, Evangelist Rosabell (Apostle Mosiby) Nelson of Georgia, Adell Wilson of Brooklyn NY; two brothers-in-law, James (Maryann) Wilson of Columbia SC and Willie Wilson both of Manning, SC; a special niece, Pastor Monica (Eric) Adams of Jacksonville FL; a host of additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends she loved dearly.

Graveside services for Mrs. Wilson will be held 12:00 Noon Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Society Hill AME Church Cemetery, 1030 Morello Road, Manning, SC

Due to COVID-19, the family is not receiving visitors. Friends may drive thru, sign memorial book on porch and leave cards, etc. at her residence.
