Maceva Jones,78, of Vandemere, NC died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Grantsboro, NC.

Public viewing is Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Oscar's Mortuary.

His service is 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Hudnell Cemetery Lynch Beach Rd., Maribel Community of Bayboro. The service may be viewed on Oscar's Mortuary Facebook Page.

He is survived by his wife, Odessa Squires Jones of the home; sons, Anthony Maurice Jones, Fayetteville, NC, McArthur Stancil, New Haven, CT and Matthew Smith, Greenville, NC; daughters, Charlene Miller, Trenton, NC, Cynthia Jones, Sharon Jones, Tammy Jones both of New Bern, Elethia Jones, Vandemere and Lolita Smith, Raleigh, NC sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Masks are required. Chairs are limited, please bring a chair

I'll miss getting my hug from him whenever I was home for church at St. Peter's and him calling me "Cadillac" because it was easier than him saying my name (LOL). My heart is heavy right now in the passing of my mother, Ida's, baby brother, Maceva Jones. Uncle Mac was very special to me! I spent most of the my childhood in the same house with him. As years went by he was my uncle, my brother, a father figure, a teacher and a friend! After he stopped working, he became our yard barber, trash man and mailman until his health challenged him. We would sometimes sit down and discuss different things. I truly love my Uncle Mac, but God loved him best! I pray that we will all be together again. Ruth Jones Ligon
