MR. RICARDO DELESO HOLMES, affectionately called “Light” was born July 11, 1954 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Bruce and Ida Delphine Fields Holmes and departed this life suddenly January 4, 2021 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. At an early age he was baptized and joined Bloom Hill Baptist Church. He attended Park View Senior High School and graduated in the U.S. Job Corps. He also received certificates in welding and cement finishing. He later entered the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge on July 15, 1975. Ricardo was married to the late Margaret Rose Powell and to this union a daughter, Syntha, was born. Ricardo worked in several jobs. He worked for Mecklenburg Correctional Center as a correctional officer; a cement finisher for Reverend Earnest Brown and lastly Clyde Walker Construction Company until he became disabled. Ricardo married Virginia Broady Washington on September 5, 1998. They attended several churches in the area, namely Bloom Hill Baptist, St. Luke Baptist #2, and later joined Hayes Grove Baptist Church. Ricardo leaves to mourn his loss- his devoted wife, Virginia Broady Holmes of the home; two children- Syntha H. (Michael) Allen, Hampton, VA and Tyshanda (Thomas) Coleman, South Hill, VA; step-son, Reggie Washington, Tampa, FL; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters- Deborah Hughes, South Hill, VA; Violet Smith, LaCrosse, VA; Debbie Palmer, South Hill, VA; Doris Holmes and Diana (Melvin) Lambert, Richmond, VA and Shelia Holmes, South Hill, VA; one brother- Frank Crute, Richmond, VA; devoted friends- Reverend A.B. Baskerville, Sr., David (Elizabeth) Williams, Alvin Garnes, Aaron Feggins, and cousin- Deacon Calvin Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
