Vanessa, It's never to late to send my condolence to such a amazing Man, Father, Husband & Leader. He was my ISG D Btry 4-5 ADA 1CD during Desert Shield/Storm, back then zero tolerance and led by example through his words. May God forever bless you and your Family as you move forward through the everlasting memories that were left. I pray that the comforter provides you with peace that surpasses all understanding

To the Mannings Family I am so sorry for your loss. I've known Leo and we have been friends since 1988 when we served in the 1st Cav Div, Ft Hood, TX. We spoke periodically over the years and he always seem to be committed in his life. Most recent conversation had to do with him restoring a Volkswagen. With that we had a plenty to laugh and talk about. Leo loved life and all the challenges that went with it. He was always good counsel to me. Thanks my brother, god bless you and the wonderful family and friends. RIP. Terry Jackson (SGM) (R)

To Vanessa and the Manning Family, Please accept our sincere condolences in the passing of Leo. I am smiling now as I reflect on what a funny guy Leo was. Once, while at Fred and Verner's, we were all outside admiring Winston's vett and we started joking about being mature and driving a vett. We all concluded that there were some do's and don't about exiting a vett. Of course, Leo had to demonstrate how you have to "pop" out of the vett when you are more mature. Boy did we chuckle at his antics. He was a funny guy who was beloved by many. We pray that small memories like this will help you through this difficult time. Know that God has proven himself worthy to be trusted in all times but especially in moments of great challenge. We pray that you will lean on him and watch him work. Wishing you the love and peace from the beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. Jeannette Summerville and the boys (Brandon and Bradley Massey)

My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Vanessa and the rest of the Manning family. As a leader, he did not adopt the popular norm but instead put aside selfish ambitions to see that people like him and others had an opportunity which so few do. As a person, he was genuinely compassionate about the well being of so many and made time for all who requested. An awesome example and he will be truly missed. GT

We are so saddened to hear the news of Leo's passing. When I joined the Army in 1977 as a Second Lieutenant he was my first Platoon Sergeant. He took me under his wings and taught me how to be a soldier and an officer. We were blessed to be able to spend almost two years working alongside him and were grateful for all he did for us. We were able to see him 20 years later in Huntsville and it was like we had never been apart. He was a true friend and a great soldier. Rest in peace our dear friend. Woody and Judy Pettigrew
