Obituary For Jean Nervil Jean-Simon

Jean Nervil Jean-Simon, age 75, was born in Cayes, Haiti on March 21, 1945 to the late Vilarson Jean-Simon and Resida Lebin Jean-Simon. He transitioned on December 31, 2020 surrounded by family at his home in Sebastian, Florida. He immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1972 where he met Marie Nicole Jean-Simon, née Thomas, and fell in love. They married in August, 1974 and from this strong union nine (9) children were born.

Nervil worked as a New York City Taxi Driver and as an Orderly at Carlton Nursing Home for many years. After moving to Irvington, New Jersey, he furthered his education, became a Respiratory Therapist, and worked at Wycoff Heights Medical Center until he retired.

After retirement, Nervil relocated with his wife to Sebastian, Florida where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee at First Haitian Baptist Church of Vero Beach. He loved to sing in the choir and enjoyed dedicating his time to serve in any capacity such as delivering food to church and community members. In fact, he loved to feed anyone that came by the house and share stories with them. His favorite sayings were “come and eat!” and “come home!”. Often times, friends and family would not even want him to fix their plates because he always joyfully loaded up too much food, but no one could never say no to him. On any given day you could find Nervil listening to music, drinking Bustelo coffee, and enjoying the Florida weather on his lanai. He was known by many names by his loved ones including: Daddy, Papi Nervil, Papa Dop, and Pop Pop.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie Nicole Jean-Simon; his nine (9) children: Natalie Gedeon, Wally Jean-Simon, Rodney Jean-Simon, Martine Chambers, Edwin Jean-Simon, Lindley Damon, Steve Jean-Simon, Melissa Solomon, and Stephanie Jean-Simon; his seven (7) children in-law: Carvens Gedeon, Oxana Bezikova, Alex Chambers, Latoya Spinner, Roger Damon, Emily Jean-Simon, and Louis Solomon; his fifteen (15) grandchildren: Kayla, Jae, Nylah, Alanah, Jaelyn, Aiden, Christian, Noah, Nathan, Kylie, Riley, Nicole, Mila, Gabrielle, and Kaia; and many family and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 9:00am at First Haitian Baptist Church of Vero Beach in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will immediately follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID 19 have been relaxed, we here at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff.
