Obituary For Betty Stinger

Betty Ann Davis Stinger was born October 22, 1941 in Spartanburg, SC to the union of Hazel Styles Jackson and the late Frank E. Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stinger; and her grandmothers, Henrietta Davis and Anna Styles. Betty graduated from Carver High School, Class of 1959. She was the Drum Major in high school. Mrs. Stinger relocated to Brooklyn, NY after high school and began her career at Southern Bell. Betty valued faith, family and friends. She started her day by meditating on the word of the Lord which fed her soul and increased her faith before her daily activities. Betty had an immense love for her family. Mrs. Stinger had a magnetic personality that did not allow her to meet any strangers and had a trail of friends from Spatanburg, SC, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma and Maryland. She had a gift to garden and was a masterchef for those things she grew. Betty could often be found proficiently completing puzzles when she was not gardening. She also enjoyed games of chance. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her mother, Hazel Jackson; her son, Damon (Brenda) Stinger of Hanover, MD; four grandchildren, Leon N. Wallace, II, Jordan Stinger, damon Stinger, Jr. and Jatoria Stinger; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Stinger and Nori Wallace; her sisters, Peggy J. (Lonnie Harry) Carson, Jacqueline J. Tate and Thomasenia (Randolph) Goode; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 1:00 p. m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 502 S. Daniel Morgan Avenue Spartanburg, South Carolina.
