Obituary For Rickey Wright

Rickey Wright was born July 24, 1953, to the union of the late Notra B. Wright Stewart and the late Rev. Jethrel Stewart in Chicago, Illinois. He was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age at Commonwealth Community Church in Chicago, Illinois. In 1973, Rickey graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago, Illinois. From there, he attended Olive Harvey Jr. College and then went on to the Chicago School of Automatic Transmissions, where he earned his technical degree. Rickey was united in holy matrimony to Cathy Beckham on August 2, 1975; to this union was born two daughters, Carrie L. and Notra T. Rickey was an extremely loving and caring person. He was also very friendly and was known for how much he loved to talk to people. Rickey was a people-person, and every friend he had was considered his buddy. He loved his daughters dearly and was crazy about his grandchildren. He loved classic cars and his big red pick-up truck that he was always shining up. He enjoyed working around the house; everything from yard work to painting, he would do. He enjoyed working on cars as he was in the transmission business for forty-plus years. Rickey loved music and would sit up at night playing his bass guitar and he also loved his church home, Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, where he considered everyone his family. On January 4, 2021, Rickey made his transition to be with God. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Cathy; daughters, Carrie L. (Lee Robert) and Notra T.; one brother, Ramond Wright of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Gavin, D’Andre and Dominic; one brother-in-law, Jeffery Beckham (Dava) of Frankfort, Illinois; a cousin who was like a sister, Elizabeth Duarte of Markham, Illinois; a close friend who he called his brother, Earl Steward of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who dearly loved and cared for him.

A public viewing is scheduled for Saturday January 09, 2021 from 11:30 am until service of celebration time 1:30 pm both at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church 1234 Pisgah Rd. Interment will be in Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery.

We go back many years with Rickey and his family when they lived in Nashville. We all use to attend First Baptist Church in Nashville together. Carrie and I were classmates and my mother and Cathy worked together for some years. It has been devastating to hear about Rickey's transition. He was a great person and always the same no matter what. Just a great all around guy. He was a Christian and I know he is resting in the arms of the Lord. Take your rest Rick. You lived a great life and your work on this side has been done. For this is not good bye but see ya later on the other side. Our heartfelt condolences goes out to the family and you all are in our prayers during this difficult time. We love you all very much and we are here for you during your time of need. Conique and family

I will miss my Brother-In-Love dearly. We had some grate times doing what we both loved looking at cars, test driving them and dreaming about our ideal car. He would ask me often what would your Ideal car be if you could choose any car. Neither he or I could ever answer that question because we liked so many. He loved his family as well as he loved his cars LOL. Rest well brother rest well.
