Mr. Matthew was a caring and devoted grandfather to my son and children. He wanted my son to come to the shop in diapers and would take him to Johnsville to spend nights and weekends with the entire family. I also thank his Aunt Mag for helping in all the upbringing of Chris. I thank Mr. Matthew and the entire family for welcoming my child and caring for him all those years with his father Lester. May God bless the family in the coming years.

My condolences is extended to the family of Deacon Matthew J. Williams, Sr. I am so sorry for the loss of such a great man!! Mr. Matthew was a man of great character and with a great heart. He would never hesitate to extend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. I remember fondly of him extending his shop, time, and tools to work on my vehicles. He would tell me to bring the car into the shop on Deloach Ave. after hours and would help me until we finished the repairs. Mr. Matthew was more like a grandfather to me although he was my brother's grandfather. He would take the time to explain facts of life and give general wisdom to my brother and I. I will miss going by the shop and seeing him there working on a vehicle and sharing a conversation with him I can still hear him say, "Ok Bubba I'll see you the next time". I mourn with you and will always remember how great of a man we was. My thoughts and prayers and with the family during this time. -Victor "Bubba" Singleton / Columbia, SC
