Sammie Waller Jr.

11/21/1948 - 12/31/2020

Obituary For Sammie Waller Jr.

Sammie was born November 21, 1948 in Meriwether County, GA. He was born the 3rd child and only son on Mr. Sammy and Mattie Joe Waller, Sr. , who have preceded him in death. He gained his wings, peacefully, on December 31, 2020.

Sammie worked hard and loved harder. He met his life partner, Liza Ann McDowell in 1969. They entered into matrimony on January 4, 1970. During this union, they had three children. He was a "jack of all trades". He spent 40 years at Goody's in Manchester, GA. However, he never actually retired. He continued to do odd jobs to keep busy and eventually, started working with his nephew, Vex Farley/Unique Construction, as an unofficial supervisor.

Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by a grandson: Christian Waller.

Sammie can be described as deliberate, dedicated, disciplined, family oriented, God-fearing, committed, community leader, loyal, nurturing, a mentor, a teacher, lover of life, and motivator.

He carried such titles as devoted Husband, Daddy, Pop, Unk, Jr., Bruh, Sarg, Friend, Mr. Waller, Mr. Sammie, and Waller just to name a few. He had the knack of drawing people in with his infectious smile, sense of humor, and laughter. He was a great story teller and jokester. He always seems to know when a hug, joke, story, listening ear was most appropriate for the occasion. It was his way of showing how much he cared.

He never met a stranger. You would never have left his presence the same as you came. He genuinely saw good in everyone, regardless of who you are or your past. He's a Man's Man held in high regard and respected by all who knew and loved him. He was loved by all who had the honor and privilege to be considered his family and friend. He had a remarkable way of maintaining relationships, simultaneously, over the years while ensuring each one was never a duplicate of another. Oh, the stories and jokes he would tell. You, remember? Those who know him, will!

He leaves to carry on his legacy, his devoted wife of 50 years, Liza Ann Waller; two daughters: Nikki A. Waller and Natalie Waller-Gamble (Jamal); one son: Tavaris Waller (Chanta); three caring grand children: Gabriel Waller, Taylor Waller, and Maddie Gamble; three sisters: Shirley Terry(James) , Annie Ruth Brawner, and Susie Farley; an extended family: Hazel (Al) Minor, Louvonia (Ernest) Simpson, Allen (Lizzie) McDowell, Linda Walker, Mary Nell (Clifford) Patridge, Marilyn (Earl) Griffin; a host of loving and dedicated nieces, nephews, relatives, friends including an abundance of children and young adults who refer to him as Grandpaw and Pop.

A Memorial Service will be held January 9, 2021 at Pineview Cemetery Dairy Loop Shiloh, GA at 12PM. Face coverings are required and social distancing will be enforced.
