Wilma, daughter of the late Andrew Joyce and Mary Strickland Joyce was born October 26, 1939 and departed this life on January 6, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. Wilma lived most of her life in the Walnut Cove, NC area where she attended Stokes County Schools and after graduation from high school went on to attend Winston-Salem State University. She was a hard worker from a very early age, having learned her work ethic from growing up with her siblings on her parents’ tobacco farm and continuing that same tireless work ethic throughout her decades of employment at Burlington Industries and Unifi.

Wilma was a truly kind woman with a beautiful and generous spirit who always saw the good in people. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like being outdoors on her riding mower keeping the grass cut or planting her vegetable gardens and flowers. Inside the house, she loved to cook, do her word search puzzles and dote on her children and grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Elnora, Mary Estelle, Martha Jane, Doris, George, Joseph, and Sarah.

Wilma is survived by her children, Carlton Lindsay (Bernadette) of Winston-Salem, NC; Joseph Lindsay (Kandi) of Winston-Salem, NC; Jesse Lindsay of Walnut Cove, NC; James Lindsay of Sanford, NC; and Alicia Lindsay of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves to mourn her loss a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
